If you have an upcoming special event or vacation, you may want to schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks in advance. It is recommended that you wait at least 2 weeks to have injectable treatments performed if you have previously had cosmetic treatments with laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or micro-dermabrasion.
It is recommended to discontinue the use of Aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment to minimize bruising or bleeding. It is recommended to discontinue Retin-A 2-3 days before treatment to avoid any increased redness and irritation. Please consult with your physician before discontinuing any medications.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. All of these may increase the risk of bruising or swelling.
Before your appointment, eat a healthy, balanced meal to keep your blood sugar steady during the treatment. Drink plenty of water to be sure you are well hydrated during the infusion.
If possible, avoid taking vasoconstriction medications such as antihistamines or decongestants the morning of your infusion. These medications cause your blood vessels to contract, which can make IV insertion difficult. If you cannot avoid taking them, be sure to stay well hydrated prior to your treatment.
Before the treatment, keep your body well hydrated. Wear comfortable clothing to allow flexibility for correct positioning during the treatment. To avoid excessive sweating, the treated area should be shaved or hairs in the treatment area should be trimmed prior to your appointment. Also, the treated area will be wiped with alcohol wipes before treatment to remove any moisture, perfume, moisturizers, or oils. You will also be asked to remove all metallic accessories and electronic devices.
Avoid tanning for one month. Avoid waxing, tweezing, or depilatory use for 6 weeks. Avoid irritants such as products containing glycolic acid or Retin-A in the area for 5 to 7 days. No Accutane for 6 months prior to treatment. Shave the desired treatment area the night before laser treatment. Wear loose, comfortable clothing on the day of treatment so as not to irritate the treated area.
One week before your procedure avoid: electrolysis, waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal. Three days before your peel, avoid: Retin-A, Renova®, Differin®, Tazorac®, any products containing retinol, alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) or beta-hydroxy acid (BHA), or benzoyl peroxide, and any exfoliating products that may be drying or irritating. Arrive with a makeup free, clean face.
